Thank you for your quick response.
May be my first mail was a little bit unclear.
When I'm talking about re-alarming I'm talking about the same event.
It has nothing to do with the re-alarming option for foxboro control blocks.
I tried a lot with deabands, inhibiting compounds and inhibiting single blocks
from HLBL sequence.
But nevertheless this doesn't fit to all requirements.
E.g. in our plant you got units which are not online for days or weeks. You
can't inhibit the compound
because in this unit there are a few measurement wich are common.
Additional we still have a mix control room equipment. For the contious plant we
just started
to put all the panel control on DCS.
The existing alarm design (panel) needs two different operator actions.
1. Acknowledging the alarm horn when an alarm comes up.
The panel annunciator holds the alarm info.
This means we have no actual information if the alarms returned to good.
2. Accepting the alarm with a different push button.
The annunciator will be reset and alarm detection will be continued.
This design prevents the CO against measurement alarms which toggles around the
alarm limit
by a factor of 10 to 100.
This 2nd action I want to emulate on the foxboro system.
But as I stated in my first mail, inhibiting a block with the acknowledge bit of
the same block
is not the solution because inhibited blocks are not longer indicated by the
alarm manager.
Hopefully I now claryfied my request.

P.S.: Sorry for sending my first mail several times to the list.
Our mailing system told me something about access violation.
