Your best bet is to enter into a conversation with Invensys Foxboro folks
locally, but I can answer some of your questions.
The AIM*OPC DA Server includes all software and license required, i.e., you
do not have to buy FoxAPI (or AIM*API) separately to use the AIM*OPC DA
Server. List pricing for all I/A Series products is available through the
I/A Series store (www.iastore.com).
As for which OPC DA Server is better, why the answer is ours of course.
Well, what else did you expect me to say? :) There are several points of
advantage, but the most important is support. The OPC DA Server vendor least
likely to have problems with the I/A Series system is us. Moreover, if there
are issue, we will correct them.
All of this is nice, but your message reads:
"We have a Foxbor AW51 installted and wanted to see/check the operator
inputs or working on the HMI."
Which I think means that you want to know what the operator is doing. The
I/A Series Operator Action Journal(OAJ) exists to provide exactly that
information. After configuration, the OAJ records operator actions in the
specified historian - AIM*Historian in this case. The recorded messages can
viewed most easily with AIM*Inform or its subset AIM*AMI.
If what you want to do is observe and review operator actions, the OAJ (std
part of the system), AIM*Historian (you appear to have this), and AIM*Inform
(you probably do not have this) are the products you want.

Subject: [foxboro] Information on FoxAPI and OPC Server
Hi,
We have a Foxbor AW51 installted and wanted to see/check the operator inputs
or working on the HMI. The option i can think of is using an AIM historian
or OPC server for foxboro to distribute releavant information across the
factory LAN. Could anyone recommend about the requirements for dsitributing
the required information to process managers, plant maintenance managers,
event generated reports etc. Also i read about the FoxAPI but have not
worked on it. Is it required to use the FoxAPI and OPC server on a separate
computer. My colleague have worked on Matrikon's OPC server for Foxboro and
he suggested to use FoxAPI and Matrikon's OPC server on a separate computer.
Can we have a difference of Matrikon's OPC server and our Foxboro OPC
server? Is it possible to see data in excel form foxboro OPC server? what
is the price range of foxboro opc server and FoxAPI.
Regards,
Wang Tao
