Thanks for the link. Yes, I've heard that XP on an SSD is Arctic
molasses. It's the primary reason I think that the netbook makers
switched back to hard drives. I think you can get faster ones (they're
using SSDs as caching/accelerator front ends for storage arrays) but they
cost considerably more. In any case, I could run a hard disk for my XP
applications.
I guess the standard motherboard isn't so important if the machine has in
it everything I need up front.

Re: [foxboro] "Industrial PC" recommendations
Hi Corey,
The standard motherboard part is going to be tough. If you don't
absolutely have to have that, take a look at these
http://www.stealthcomputer.com/littlepc_625_fanless.htm
I'm not sure about the dual display capability of these either, although
it has the words in the spec sheet.
We have used these running XP for some applications. The newer SSDs may
be better, but the ones we bought a year or so ago were slower than
death. XP install times were so slow we would actually build the drives
using a regular hard drive, then ghost it over to the SSD. Maybe the
new ones are better.
Thanks,
