Re: [foxboro] IP address change

Sorry, it's early and I haven't had enough coffee. I sent the wrong set of
instructions. This is way I do it for our ethernet network.
Second Ethernet Port Setup
Used for changing or adding the AW to the company LAN
# cd ^/etc
add the ip address and machine name to the hosts file, you will also need
to edit the netmask to add the default gateway.
add the machine name to the hostname.hme1 (or if it is token ring tr?) or
leX
To keep from having to reboot the machine for the changes to take affect
you can use the following commands:
# ifconfig hme1 (tr?)^plumb [enter]
# ifconfig hme1 (tr?) xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (ip address)^netmask ^xxx.xxx.xxx
(netmask number)^up [enter] (all one line)
Adding a default gateway:
# netstat^-r [enter]
type route add default xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (default router address)^l [enter]
On some systems you may have do the following to make the default router
permanent:
/etc/fox
textedit the rc.foxapps file and add the following
route add default xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (router address)
If this file does not exist create the file by doing the following:
Textedit rc.foxapps.
Add the flowing lines
#! /bin/sh
/usr/sbin/route^add^net, default^ IP address ^1
Save it!
From VT100
At the # chmod^755 rc.foxapps. This will make it an executable file.

This is the way that I do it.
Lost Network Connection
                                 Ethernet
From VT100
#ifconfig^-a [enter]
Should return a list of network devices. The one you are looking for is=

                         hme1
Somewhere in the information on this device should be the word UP.
#ifconfig^hme1^down [enter] (hme1 is our logical name, you will need to=

                         check for your name)
This should shutdown the token-ring card.
#ifconfig^hme1 [enter]
Verify the word UP does not appear in any of the returned information,
#ifconfig^hme1^up [enter]
This should restart the token-ring card.
#ifconfig^hme1 [enter]
Verify that the word UP appears in the returned information.
If all of this doesn't work you will have to reboot the AW.
Do an orderly shutdown with fsck-y.
At #AW5101 halt
At ok turn off the power on the machine and wait several minutes then
                         restore power and
let the AW reboot from a powered down configuration

Hi List

We have 2 x AW51B's and 1 x WP51B on our node which connects to our
corporate network with a router. All three units are equipped with 2nd=

Ethernet cards. I need to change the IP addresses of the 2nd Ethernet
cards and the router.

Except for editing the "/etc/hosts*" files, is there anything else I sh=
ould
change or fix.
