Subject: Re: [foxboro] How to remove big collection of files

I remember this project now. Alm2unix was used by the project team
independently of FoxPage and RemotePlus - that's okay, but it changes
where
the problem might be.

If the files still exist, I'd like to know the dates on them - run the
ls
command with the -lt option for a bit and then kill it. The only way to
remove them is with the rm command. I would also like to see one of the
files.

I'm not sure what is going on, but it seems that the message files are
not
being processesd. That could be because of a problem with almdisp, but
I'm
not certain.

I think I would remove them and then see if they are being recreated. If
they are being re-created, we need to figure out how they are supposed
to be
processed and fix that.

      -
These files are located in the
/opt/foxind/peer2peer/alm2unix/sched/RUN1

I used the command " nice ls & " to list them, it took more than
30
      minutes just to list them.

      Yes the amdisp is running

      Hmmm.

You really should not be accumulating files. What directory has
them
and
      can
you give me the name of a few?

Is the program almdisp (Alarm Dispatch) running?

alm2unix comes as part of FoxPage and also RemotePlus do you have
either
      of
      these?

files

            Hi All,
I am trying to remove a directory of size 19997184, when I
do
      so,
      the
"rm" commands uses almost 80% of the CPU time which makes
the
      system
very very slow which affect the whole network. This
directory
      hosts
files from a program called alm2unix which collects data and
      passes
      it
            to a remote site.

Is there any command or way to delete all those files
      accumulated in
      the
directory without affecting the system performance?

            Your help is always appreciated.
