Re: [foxboro] How to move a FCP online from one Switch to another Switch?

You should also consider aging time of the IP address in the switches. This is
300 seconds as default. So don't pull the second fibre pair too quickly. You
also can't trust the info given by system management in this one. So the safest
operation is to wait at least the standard aging time. Personally I would
double or triple that time, just to be sure.

Andreas,
FT FCP270 connected to two switches.
Remember cables from a FT FCP270 are thru a splitter/combiner.

When you remove first FCP cable from first switch, that cable is a
combination of both FCP's A cable.
So the FCP270 pair switches to it's B connection to Mesh.
Both FCP's stay running.

Connect A to new switch. So now A cable on new switch B cable on old.
FCP270 then recovers communication on A and auto switches back to A
ports/switch.

Duplicate same move as above for B connection...

You should never have Single FCP270..during above procedure..it should
mainatin FT operation.

Subject: [foxboro] How to move a FCP online from one Switch to another
Switch?

Dear experts,

what's the best way to move a FCP270 online from one switch to another?

Online means that an Operator on a AW should be able to see all Object
Manager / Compound:Block.Parameter values hosted on that FCP.

a scenario could be:

= redundant connection
- single connection

step 1 "current situation"

                                +==>ATS<==>NCNI<==>Switch<==>RCNI<==>AW
on the Nodebus
                                |
AW on the Mesh <==> Root-Switch <==>SW<===>FCP

step 2 "remove the connection from the FCP to one of the two redundant
switches"

                                +==>ATS<==>NCNI<==>Switch<==>RCNI<==>AW
on the Nodebus
                                |
AW on the Mesh <==> Root-Switch <==>SW<--->FCP

step 3 "connect the FCP to another switch"

                                +==>ATS<==>NCNI<==>Switch<==>RCNI<==>AW
on the Nodebus
                                |
AW on the Mesh <==> Root-Switch <==>SW<--->FCP
                          +                 |
                          |-----------------|

step 4 "move the other connection the other switch"

                                +==>ATS<==>NCNI<==>Switch<==>RCNI<==>AW
on the Nodebus
                                |
AW on the Mesh <==> Root-Switch <==>SW
                          +
                          |<==============>FCP

step 5 "reset the failed FCP module so that it marries again"

Is it possible and supported to do that?

Regards,
Andreas
