Re: [foxboro] Ghost

Your luck with Ghosting dissimilar machines may vary.
Had quite a lot of luck myself with that. ;-))
A very important showstopper is the controller the "boot" device is on.
The difference between SCSI and IDE is obvious but more subtle differences
between SCSI controllers (even members of the 2940 familly) can be
troublesome.
Not to mention that older systems had a 2940 DUAL and now the systems are
shipped with a totally other brand.

IDE can cause headaches too where you have ATA33, 66 ,100 ,133 standards not
to mention SATA all of which can give problems when using each other's
drivers to boot from.

Usually when you get past this section you can at least boot the system and
modify or update your drivers.
My experience with Win2K and XP is NOT that good. All of the post ME platforms
decide at the beginning to switch from BIOS access to the boot disk to
loading specific device drivers to access the drives. That is why most boxes
at least start to boot until you load these drivers.

Windows 98 was not nearly that picky I remember. Ah those where the days...

Have fun anyway.
