Re: [foxboro] Friday Afternoon modbus plus question

Hi David
I tried the 174CEV20040 Ethernet bridge which coincidentally provides
the MB+ network diagnostics, the bridge is a good product.

Where I came unstuck was...
The FBM233 (redundant ModbusTCP) insists on a unique IP address for each
PLC the bridge is only one IP address, we did try to fool the FDSI
driver by using OCTAL, HEX and dotless decimal IP addresses but ended up
reliably causing the FCP's to go single.
Another minor detail if you try to access a nonexistent PLC or Register
on the MB+ network the bridge will return an exception code which the
FDSI driver interprets as a valid transaction, including writes. (any
response is considered a good response).

Foxboro have informed me while closing my CAR's that the FDSI Driver is
working as designed and it is not Foxboro's continuously current product
to address the issue of obsolete MB+ gateways.

There is no timeline but Foxboro are considering the possibility of
using the FDSI driver to bridge to a MB+ network
