Re: [foxboro] Friday Afternoon modbus plus question

Dave,

You do not mention the acceptable level of risk for your control system.
I know one user who has accepted the risk of an AW70 Integrator talking
Ethernet to PLC's and displaying their data on WP's. He keeps a
duplicate AW70 sitting on a shelf and uses Ghost about once a month or
after config changes to keep the two boxes in sync (almost). Works well
for him with his process as he can tolerate the 1-2 lockups (reboots)
per year and a hardware failure can be fixed in about 1 hour. =20

The Ethernet communication will allow him to view much more bytes per
second than RS232 serial or MB+ would allow.

But most other users could not accept the risk that a computer with hard
drive implies.
