I did not use any of the AIM* listed products. I used the OPCIOGate Client
with an Allen Bradley SLC505 and RSLINX as the OPC Server. I believe the AIM*
products are specifically for historian interface between the IA system and
whatever flavor of PLC/DCS that is conversing using OPC as either a server or
client and as such they do not feed the Foxboro FRIN, FIIN, FCIN, FMCIN, FSIN
inputs and FROUT, FIOUT, FCOUT, FMCOUT, and FSOUT outputs. These blocks are
the
gateway into the control database for the rest of IA to use the foreign data.
The product manual is DI700AA rev A and the OPCIOGate Client is currently at
rev 3.02. We did not xfer a ton of points (>1000 per second) but I think the
system could do it. Nice idea if you can live with the AW70 as the interface
(and really most systems can). It will be a great idea when the Ethernet
modules are available.
