Re: FoxCTS Support

FoxCTS supports any mix of Solaris and Windows workstations running any
mix of I/A Series Y2K systems. So, we have that covered.

Re: FoxCTS Pricing

FoxCTS is priced per monitored Control Station. In your case, you have 0
control stations so you could buy either:

1) Q0301YJ FoxCTS-Windows Srvr; Mixed Clients Cfg 1: 1-3 CSs

2) Q0301XW FoxCTS-Solaris Srvr; Mixed Clients CFG 1: 1-3 CSs

Re: FoxCTS Installation

In this case, load the FoxCTS Server on the WP and confine it to
monitoring those four machines. That should make installation pretty
simple.

Re: Advice

All that said, here's what I'd do.

* Build a IND block for each DM.

* In the SN0001 parameter, put the names of the DM/FV that it
should monitor.

* Write code to monitor ST0 for each DM and drive it to a "safe"
display and environment when the same display has been on too long.

DISPLAY := :'SN0001'ST0;

Should give you the current display name.

:'SN0001'DMCMD := "/opt/menus/SafeDisp";

Should change the display to a "safe" one.

But it in a loop and you have what you want. You could do it with one
block, but it is simpler with one for each DM.

You should add logic to trap the error if the WP is down.

Hope this helps.

Subject: Re: [foxboro] FoxView Auto Logoff of User Environment using
XPWorkstations

Alex,

We have a total of 4 XP WPs installed on our Solaris version 7.1.1
system.

Of these 4 stations, presently 2 of them are in an area that we do not

presently have locked doors with card readers installed and I wanted to
make

sure that the operators were logging off of these 2 stations when they

leave. All other workstations are in a control room that is operated
24/7

and are behind locked doors, so we do not have the operators log in and
out

of these stations. I was looking for a solution that would do this
without

a large cost. From what I remember the FoxCTS is a product that would
be

overkill for what I wanted to do unless it has changed. I think I
remember

it needs to run on an AW which ours would be Solaris and the stations I

wanted to monitor is 2 XP stations. Is this a possibility and if so,
what

part number would I be looking for and what type of cost would I be
looking

at?

Thanks,

FoxCTS provides this service and a number of others for both Windows and

Solaris.

If you don't want control station tracking, but do want screen

inactivity and/or Individual User Login/Logout, you can do that as well.

Order the most inexpensive version and do not install the component that

tracks CPs (SMMR).

Subject: [foxboro] FoxView Auto Logoff of User Environment using XP

Workstations

Has anyone written a utility that will automatically log off a user from

an

environment if it is idle for a period of time for FoxView on XP? I

have a

couple of XP stations in areas were I need to have the box log off

automatically to the Initial environment if there is no activity for

awhile.

 We are running version 7.1.1.
