Re: [foxboro] FoxPage

We have been using FoxPage for about 5 years and find it quite useful. We
are not really sending alarms to operators at this time though. Several of
our systems monitor unmanned, remote storm water treatment facilities via
integrators/gateways. We use FoxPage to dispatch water sampling crews and
others when the remote facilities call for them. Additionally, the Foxboro
piece of FoxPage (alm2unix which is now call Event Activated Scripts) is a
great general purpose tool for having Control Processors kick off
programs/scripts on an AP/AW. We also use the facility to capture specific
data during storm events and for other purposes.

One caveat is that paging can be unreliable. There is no real way of
knowing if the pager receives the page or not. You may want to institute a
system of resending the page until the "alarm" is acknowledged. This is not
too difficult to do on the IA system and we did it at one time but no
longer. Additionally, the latest version of the Pagemate software (the
third party paging software Foxboro packages with FoxPage) has some
capabilities in this area also.

Hi list,

We are considering issuing our Operators with Pagers and sending alarm
messages
to them from our Foxboro DCS. Has anyone had any successful experience
using
FoxPage or any other system.

Thanks
