Re: [foxboro] FoxCAE and AutoCAD

Autocad made some changes in version 2000 (and 2002) that cause files to
fail to open that could be opened in older versions. These changes have to
do with their drawing verification process. Autocad 2000 and 2002 will
fail to open files that older versions would open fine, because they check
for syntax errors which older versions would pass in spite of being not
meeting dfx code specifications.

To see if this is your problem, open your dfx file in your old version of
Autocad (if still available) and export to a new dfx file. Compare (using
word processor, "diff" or other utility) the two dfx files. Differences
should be syntax errors.

Workarounds I am aware of include passing dfx files through older version
of Autocad (as above), or manually editing syntax errors.

I think there was a bug in Autocad 2000, that has since been corrected. I'm
using
Autocad 2002, but do not have FoxCae. If you want, you can send a sample
file to me,
and I'll see if I can open it with 2002.

Has anybody else experienced a problem with FoxCAE .DXF files no longer
being importable into AutoCAD? According to our drafting folks, AutoCAD
2000 and above can no longer read the DXF files we output using FoxCAE v4.0
and also v5.0. Is there any work-around for this?
