Re: [foxboro] FoxAPi

I think Alex answered this. The version that comes with I/A v.6.2.1 is
v.4.2.5. If you are not at FoxAPI version 4.2.5, QF1001369 will get you
there.

Look at the file go_FOXAPI. It should have a line referring to
"/opt/fox/ais/bin/aisstart". This is the program that starts FoxAPI.

The only other thing I can think of is the an_init.tcp file. This file is
required in the /opt/fox/ais/bin directory, even if it has nothing in it
except defaults. Do you have that file?

        Tim,

I checked all those things and FoxAPI is running.
What I don't see is an entry like ADDE6 in /usr/fox/bin/fox_apps.dat
, but
there is an entry called FOXAPI

What's the latest version of FoxAPI ; I am working with 4.2.0.

Or should I give another instruction in my C program before calling
        "an_add_objects"?

        Regards,

        Jef

        Jef,

Try going to /opt/fox/ais/bin and typing in the command P (simply
the
capital letter P) at the Solaris prompt. It will print out all the
FoxAPI-related applications that are currently running. You should
have at
        least the following:

        /opt/fox/ais/bin/foxapi om_poll
        /opt/fox/ais/bin/foxapi
        /opt/fox/ais/bin/foxapi wrtimr
        /opt/fox/ais/bin/foxapi wrproc
        /opt/fox/ais/bin/histlnbc

You may also have an_server.tcp running a few times, depending on if
you
        have any special applications running.

If you don't have these entries, FoxAPI is not really running. You
should
also check /usr/fox/bin/fox_apps.dat or /etc/fox/user_apps.dat to
make sure
FoxAPI starts on reboot. There should be an entry in one of those
files
that refers somewhere to aisstart, such as go_ADDE6.

             Hi,

I would like to write a C program using FoxAPI calls like
        an_add_objects,
             an_poll_changes,...

However when I start my programs , it tells me "FoxAPI is not
running-Please restart application after FoxAPI is started !"

When I check with a ps command , FoxAPI is running !

We are using FoxAPI ver 4.2.0 (I/A series ver 6.2.1)
