Re: [foxboro] Filtering Alarm History

Tonja,

When you say, "enables and disables" itself do you mean "inhibits and
uninhibits"? If so, I have not answered your question. If you mean that a
process alarm becomes set and then returns to normal, then read on.

The answer depends on whether you want to filter the message or to stop the
messages. If you just want to stop alarms from being sent to the alarm
history, then each individual block can be configured to do just that. Just
send the alarm to a message group that does not contain a historian, but
does contain the stations that you wish to receive the alarm. (The message
group may contain no members, if that is what you desire. I do this for
blocks that initiate actions such as opening a digital fill valve when a
tank level is low.) This can be done by going to the Detail page of the
block and selecting the Alarm button. From their you may change the message
group and alarm priority. (It can be changed on a more permanent basis by
doing this through the ICC. Or, the parameters may be uploaded en masse
after they have all been set from the Detail pages.) The members of a
message group may be configured by using the ICC to change the Compound
Parameters.

I answered the easy question. The question of how to filter the alarm
messages on their way to the historian requires more information about what
type of filtering you intend. My guess is that it will require a custom
solution.

Subject: [foxboro] Filtering Alarm History

When an alarm enables and disables itself a message is sent to the alarm
history.
Does anyone know how to filter or stop these messages from being sent to
the history?
Thanks
