Greetings,
I thought I would chime in here and give my impressions of the User's
Group meeting.
The first day, I came away very disappointed by all the Microsoft talk.
The second day, I came away extremely disappointed because of the
LACK of Allen-Bradley talk. It's like Foxboro has never heard of them!
The third day was VERY enjoyable. Great keynote speaker!!! Great
entertainment and dinner!!! And resolution to the fact that I ordered
a third party solution for the Allen-Bradley gateway. It's called Matrikon.
I have tried to stay away from third party solutions from the beginning, but
we have been asking three year now for an improved A-B gateway,
and they are not even contemplating it. Their loss.
Also, Mr. Eva assured us that UNIX is NOT dead. It is merely loosing
their software development push when ArchestrA takes over. It will
still be supported, like CP10's and AP20's. You just won't be able to
use the new stuff on it!
I must admit I was impressed with the new configuration tool (whatever
it is called???)
All in all, I enjoyed the get-together's with people from all parts of the
Earth, as I do every year. That is the biggest benefit to me.
Life is good when you put it all into perspective!
