Re: 1 - File transfer (in a heterogeneous network)
This issue is understood and is on a list of infrastructure
improvements.
Would implementation of rcp solve this issue?
Re: 2 - Seamless transfer of graphics
Yes, IACC does provide this for FoxView and the IEE does not. All that I
can say at this time is the IEE is a very young product, but it imports
control databases from IACC really well.
So, use IACC for now.

Would implementation of rsh solve this issue?
Re: 4 - Remote ICC type configuration from any workstation
I'm not sure what "ICC type" configuration means, but IACC and IEE user
may load the corresponding client on any Windows workstation and
configure any station those configurators support.
Solaris users are limited to loading a 3rd party package like Cytrix
Metaframe to gain access to IACC or IEE through Windows Terminal
Services.
This is not going to change, i.e., we aren't going to build a
configuration client for ICC and we aren't going to change the ICC.
[That said, some people have used X-Windows to access the ICC from a
Windows machine since it is an X-Windows application - one of the
reasons we supply eXceed. Using that approach allows the ICC to be run
from anywhere, but you get only one instance of it from any given AW
which is a limitation.]

1. File transfer
2. Seamless transfer of graphics
3. Execution of remote commands
4. Remote ICC type configuration from any workstation
That's just off the top of my head. I realize that #2 is just a
specialized variant of #1, but it is annoying to have to convert a
unix fdf file to a g file and then back to an fdf on a windows box. I
realize that the IACC did transfer graphics seamlessly (at least I
have been told this), but I was under the impression that the IEE
lacks this function.
