Re: I'm sure Foxboro must be working on correcting this glaring omission concerning fieldbus switch health monitoring. = The switch is viewed as a cable from the CP's point of view. This is identical to the situation with the CP60s. Getting the diagnostic data from the switch to the CP is a bit difficult. It would seem to me that the switches do indeed have a connection to an SMON AW--the same connection that the FCM's and FBM's do. So if the latter can be monitored, I would think the switches can be as well. If nothing else, I would think the switch health data could be allowed to pass through the CP to get to the switch monitoring software on the AW. Several users have decided to have "nodebus" "fieldbus" separation. Some points though: The fieldbus switches get configured in SysDef. They do not get connected to the Mesh. They just standalone outside of the Mesh This causes an error when performing check config in SysDef Ignore the error. They do not get System Monitored as they have no connection to a SMON AW. So health of those switches are unknown. Only know there is an issue if your FCM's report a fieldbus error. Best to have two switches out at that location. Each side of FCM to each switch. The two switches would be tied together to facilitate the internal FCM probe test between it's two ports. russb = = = = _______________________________________________________________________ This mailing list is neither sponsored nor endorsed by Invensys Process Systems (formerly The Foxboro Company).
