Re: [foxboro] FCP's and "remote" I/O

BTW, the PSS for the FCM2Fx is: PSS 21H-2Y3 B3.

I have a couple of problems with this document:

1) The product is misnamed. It should be the FO Extender for Copper
Fieldbus because it is not an FCM. It's a FO Repeater. It looks like
wire to the system.
2) The picture is too limiting. It shows the FCM2Fx on the baseplate
with the FBMs. This is the "wrong" way to do it. The FCM2Fx doesn't need
a "named" baseplate because it's not addressed; it's wire.

I would suggest that:

1) The FCPs sit on a 4 port baseplate
2) The FCMs sit on the same 4 port baseplate

This configuration gives a Cu fieldbus for local FBMs and a FO fieldbus
for remote FBMs.

3) Put the next pair of FCMs on a 2-port baseplate.
4) Connect the 2-port baseplate to the FBM baseplates using Cu.

CP-+ -(cu)- FBMs
   |
   + FCM2Fx - (fo) - FCM2Fx -(cu)- FBMs
------------ ------ -----------
Std 4-port bp 2-port bp Std 2/4/8 port bp

Does this help a little more?

The FCM

Subject: [foxboro] FCP's and "remote" I/O

What are the choices in having a FCP control baebplates that are located
more than a few feet away from the FCP? I understand it is possible to
remote (using fiber I assume) baseplates using some new modules, right>
what
are the constraints on doing this. Can I go from the FCP to an
intermediate
location, then go on to a 3rd location? if so what hardware would I
need?
