How can you make the modscan software as a slave ? Shahar -chemada fine chmicals -----Original Message----- From: foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Gonzalo D?az Sent: Monday, July 02, 2012 3:15 PM To: foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [foxboro] FBM231 RS485 COMMUNICATION If this does not provide a solution, try this: 1) use modscan or mdbus (from calta computing) to poll the slave device using your laptop 2) try to capture the frame sent and received from the slave device, in order to get the correct frame that works. 3) from this information, use modscan as a slave and put it on the port of the FBM to see if the IA is sending the same frame as modscan is Usually, when you're trying to poll a slave device, the frame sent from the IA may be different from the one you send using modscan, because from IA the frame is made in base from the IO points you've configured, so a quick way to see if what you're doing is correct is to see if the "poll holding register" is sent to the slave device the way it should. I've been doing this from quite long, and generally the problem gets solved with this procedure. Usually, the errors are from bad address (you might change the register address to +1 or -1, try that), the conversion (depending on the device, the float numbers might be from a single 32 bit register or made from 2 consecutive 16 bit registers, and when is from 2 registers, you may have to swap bytes, or even have two swap bits, ie, from 32...1 to 1...32) Make sure also that the modbus function is correct, ie, function 3 instead of function 4 or function 4 instead of function 3. Sorry I mistyped it. There are three different types of devices communicating. Port1 and Port2 device are fine and data also is received. The device which is a electric meter & connected to Port3 is unable to communicate. Rather in SMDH it shows me healthy if I don't configure any points in IACC. As soon as I configure a floating point, & download, the SMDH says "Device Failed". So not sure what I am missing. Gerrit has suggested few things to check which I will try. Any other help on the subject is appreciated Thanks !! - Rakesh On Sun, Jul 1, 2012 at 9:49 PM, Dominguez, Angel < angel.dominguez@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > There's two address format 5 or 6 digits, you should have 43001:F4 as > a valid format. > Angel Dominguez > 938 136-8842 > -----Original Message----- > From: שחר קצב > Sent: 01/07/2012, 11:16 > To: foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: Re: [foxboro] FBM231 RS485 COMMUNICATION > > Hi, does the problem is that you can't configure all the ports? > Shahar chemada fine chemicals > > -----Original Message----- > From: foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] > On Behalf Of RAKESH DASH > Sent: Saturday, June 30, 2012 8:53 PM > To: foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [foxboro] FBM231 RS485 COMMUNICATION > > Hi there, > I am trying to interface FBM231 with an external device over RS485. > The modbus data is Holding Register Floating Point (4 bytes) I checked > the communication and data using modscan in a laptop and all is good. > The configuration in FDSI baud rate etc. is also fine > > FBM231 is showing healthy on communication. > But As soon as I define even one signal in the RIN block in the > compound for receiving the data & download, the FBM231 goes out of > order and shows me as device failed. > I have configured the point address PNT_NO as 430001:F4. > > I there any known issue of such kind ?
