It is a potential future application, but I will start with 9 devices and 
could have up to 16.  The devices are motor starters and so could fairly 
often be offline (breaker turned off).  Even if I split them up amongst 
the ports, I'll still have >1 device per port.  The data is not critical, 
but having a 5- or 10-second time delay on each scan due to offline 
devices could cause some operator indigestion.

Corey,
I know this doesn't answer the question, but are you using all 4 ports? We
have done a couple of these, but always set up a separate port for each
slave device.  So far I haven't needed to talk to more than 3 through the
FBM.
