We have used an external horn from Federal Signal Corp. that is available in 24VAC/24VDC, 120VAC and 230/240VAC. The sound is adjustable from 64dB to 88dB so you don't need a muffler. Model 50GC SelecTone. You can add a Tone Module Model UTM that plugs in the back that produces 18 different sounds. You can find more information on Federal Signal Corp. website.
