Sascha,
One of the simplest ways of 'documenting' a AIM historian point configuration
is with a utility named 'HARP' ("historian activity report program"). This is
one of the programs located in the 'unsp_utilities' folder of the AIM
installation CD. I have found this program to be most useful for many years. It
provides a simple one line per point text file that can be brought into Excel
or any Database program for sorting. HARP does not produce a file that can be
edited and batched backed in, it is just for documentation purposes.
To use the program, find your AIM installation CD, open the 'unsp_utilities'
folder and print or read the 'unsp_util.doc' and follow the instructions. The
procedure involves copying the HARP program to /opt/aim/bin and then in a shell
(UNIX or Windows) and execute the program. This can be done on a running
historian. For example, 'harp hist01 -F' will produce a list of all configured
points in hist01. Another example, 'harp hist01 -C -d' would produce a list of
all points with their configured deltas. These examples and others are provided
in the document.
There are also available some third party programs for converting '.inp' files
to/from Excel. Not sure where I saw these, maybe someone on the list knows ...

/opt/aim/bin/histcsave and a few lines of awk did the trick for me.
