Re: [foxboro] Display manager initial environment

Hi Roger,

In the OLD Display Manager (not Foxview) the magic file is
/usr/fox/customer/hi/dmcfg. Changes to this file only "take" after a
reboot, so it is possible you set it up correctly but haven't re-booted yet.

This is an excerpt from one of my dmcfg's (version 4.3)
***********************************************************
SCREEN pc_eng murray F4AW51

TYPE Engineer - E Proc_Eng_Env

NAME F4AW51 F4AW51 .0 -
NAME F4AW51 F4AW01 $pc_eng Engineer
NAME F4AW51 F4AW07 $pc_eng Engineer

***********************************************************

This assigns a dedicated DM slot to the user identified as murray (via
/etc/hosts) on slots F4AW01 & F4AW07.

When I login the DM automatically prompts me for the Proc_Eng_Env
password. All three settings have to jive for the SCREEN, TYPE, & NAME.
You can also set the AM up the same way.

You can modify the environment files without rebooting, but changes to the
dmcfg require a reboot.

  Cheers,

Steve Murray

Subject: [foxboro] Display manager initial environment

The documentation on display manager configuration indicates one can
configure the initial environment for a DM via the DM type parameter.
However, I can not get this to work. I seem to remember this was a known
problem in the past, but I'm not sure. Does this work now (I'm at V6.1.1),
and if so, are there some tricks to it?
