Do the display files have to stay in the single original directory? I
assume this is on Solaris. I any case, I would take your idea one step
further, which is to create a hard link (as opposed to a symbolic link) to
the file in the new directory where you want to segregate the file. This
will create two directory entries that point to the same file. Once you
make whatever changes might be required in the system to relate to the new
directory entry, then you can remove the original entry - or leave it as it
isn't really hurting anything and can make editing your display files
fairly convenient.
