You ain't tellin' me nothing new! Almost all of our ladder logic
running FBMs are of the main/extended variety (it was such a great
idea at the time, 18 years ago), forcing us to touch every ladder in
converting them to 200-series FBMs. Hence it's another driving force
in doing away with ladder logic altogether. The thinking is, as long
as we have to edit the logic, we might as well port it to
logic/sequence blocks and modularize it for ease of maintenance in the
long run.
