I don't either, that's why I threw it out to the list.

No, not that I know of. But like I described earlier, if I removed the
zombie process, then enter and exit the historian configurator,
there'll be a new defunct process, also a child of hist_srv. Weird!
And as far as I know, the historians are functioning fine.
Thanks for weighing, although I'm no closer to finding out why.
