Tim, I have the correct formula but when I click yes to start up data link I get a error." The program or one of its components are missing". AIMDLINK.EXE is located in c:\programfiles\aim\datalink on my AW70. Is this the same problem you had to overcome by writing the batch file?? Thanks again. -----Original Message----- From: Lowell, Tim: [mailto:tlowell@xxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, May 02, 2002 2:13 PM To: 'foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: Re: [foxboro] Datalink to Excel Daren is correct. All you need to do is enter the following formula into the Excel spreadsheet cells: =aimdlink|objectaccess!'AW5101/COMPOUND:BLOCK.PARAM' The single quotes are required, and AW5101 is the letterbug of the AW where the AIM instance is located. When you start up the spreadsheet, you'll get asked if you want to update links, and you click "yes". Then it should ask if you want to start AIMDLINK.EXE, if you haven't already. Click "yes", and AIM*Datalink starts up. I've had some problems on some PC's where aimdlink.exe won't start automatically, so I wrote a little batch file in the NT command language to get aimdlink.exe to start before the spreadsheet starts. Currently I first open up the datalink *.vew file then the excel spreadsheet. Is there a way to have datalink *.vew file automatically open and run in the bacground whenever I open the excel spreadsheet? Thanks. G. Bruce Moss Shell Global Solutions (US) Inc.
