We have one workstation istalled this way. It is definitely a configuration not
supported by foxboro, but has worked without problems for us.
One other option to consider is to locate the workstation near the DNBI and use
a kvm extender. High end KVM extenders are available for both PC and Sun
workstations. Most will support extensions to 1000 feet (although the longer
the extension, the lower the video resolution supported). If you need to extend
the serial port also to support a GCIO there are a few manufacturers who make a
kvm+serial for Sun (and lots for windows).
