ApsenTech sells a CIMIO for Foxboro I/A interface. It uses the local FoxAPI on the AW, therefore there is nothing additional to purchase from Foxboro. This would allow you to read and write tags between a CIMIO device (DMCPlus, IP21, RTO, etc...) and I/A. So, the controllers could be built and run on the NT box. Now the trick is the operator interface because you can no longer use DMC bridge graphics. There are a few options as I see it. 1. Create the graphics on I/A (maybe using reusable displays for similar controllers) 2. Create the graphics with ApsenTech Process Explorer (will require a PC for each operator console) 3. Use AspenTech Web Viewer for DMCPlus (requires a separate NT box and PC for each operator console with MS IE) 4. Use ApsenTech legacy GCS OpCon (Yuck!) I prefer option 1 if you have the time or option 3 if you have the $$$$$$$$$! While exploring the upgrade strategies, we came to know that Foxboro has migrated the DMC applications to Connoisseur , whereas Aspentech has their latest DMC plus 4.x This latest DMC engine runs on Windows NT platform , which could not be integrated to I/A Nodebus. The possible workaround is to have an AW on the Nodebus to Interact with the NT machine. The AW on the Nodebus will have to act as the DMC bridge running AOS and API, which will also be hosting the operator graphics on the WP's on the Nodebus. In this setup, one needs to build the models on the off-line NT machine and manually transfer the controller files to the AW . We are looking at a full-fledged solution using on-line DMCplus Controllers . Your comments are welcome. ________________ Thanks & Regards, GOPAN.G.NAIR Senior Systems Engineer Saudi Aramco-Mobil Refinery Yanbu, Saudi Arabia ph: 966-4-3964738 fax: 966-4-3964647 email : GopanNair@xxxxxxxxxxxxx _______________________________________________________________________ This mailing list is neither sponsored nor endorsed by Invensys Process Systems (formerly The Foxboro Company).
