Re: [foxboro] Cyan Colors (Communication drop) at APC Displays

In general, problems of this type (good data -> cyan data -> good data; aka
"blue wave" or "smurfing" or "blue flu") indicate that there are network
loading issues on the Nodebus or on the CBLAN.

If the WPs are a different Node from the AW, the most likely source of the
problem is an overloaded CBLAN module.

If the WPs are in the same Node as the AW, the most likely cause is a heavy
burst of network traffic and/or noise on the bus.

My best advice is to contact the customer satisfaction center and arrange
for them to monitor the Nodebus and CBLAN loading in the plant.

Subject: [foxboro] Cyan Colors (Communication drop) at APC Displays

Hi All,
We have one AW51E and three WP51Ds with one CP60FT and 200 Series FBMs. We
have applied APC on our Crude Distillation Unit using Connoisseur ver. 14.03

on a separate PC connected to the AW via second ethernet port. We are facing

some intermittent cyan coloring problem at APC displays i.e the dyanmic
values field at APC graphics turns into cyan color intermittently. This
happens to APC graphics on the WP51Ds only while the APC graphics at AW
remains uneffected i.e no cyan color. We observed the perfmeter at the WPs
and AWs to view the load on the CPU. We observed that at the cyan coloring
instance the perfmeter at WPs shows high CPU load peaks while the CPU load
is normal at AW i.e same as before cyan coloring. At the time of cyan
coloring we also checked the availability APC data on WP using omget
command, it returned a valid value of the that specific variable but it was
not being appeared at APC graphics and was on the cyan color. The cyan color

remains on the screen for few minutes and then the screen becomes normal i.e

it starts showing correct values of APC variables.
If anyone have encountered this problem before and rectified it, Kindly
advise the possible cause of this problem and its remedy.
