        We have done several I/O conversion projects where we replaced
I/O of PLC's, Spectrum, and Rosemont System 3 with 100 and 200 Series
Foxboro FBM's.  We put the new I/O in I/O racks that were directly
attached to marshalling enclosures and ran new wire from the field
Junction boxes into the marshalling enclosures, leaving the field wiring
from existing instruments to the field JB's intact.  We have converted
about 4500 I/O with a discrete to analog ratio of 2 to 1 and the average
cost per I/O point was $1250USD/pt.  Troy's estimate of
$1000USD/transmitter/field device sounds reasonable and we achieved some
"economy of scale" by installing large quantities at one time.  I think
Troy's numbers $1500USD/$2500USD are good ones.

Brian,
It kind of depends on several things, but when I am estimating a project
for our engineers I use an average of $2500 if I have to buy end devices
and $1500 if the end devices are existing. This works pretty good on new
projects, but I don't how good it would be for adding random points.
Think
that it would be fairly close unless you the conduit runs are extremely
long.

Does anyone happen to know what the average installed cost per analog
and
digital point would be?  How about a Fox Doc or spreadsheet to
calculate?
