Dave,
Your best bet is to use color in association with some other indicator.
Pair a color and a symbol. Yellow and a hollow valve symbol for one state,
blue and a solid valve symbol for another state. Or use color and text.
Using two indicators is always a good idea. That way if you get a new
operator or somebody forgets the color scheme there is a 2nd indicator.
Reloading colors every shift is a bad idea. You would need to juggle
operators around to make certain that all operators with the same type of
color discrimination problems all work the same shift. And if you forget to
change the color palette on one shift... The possibilities for a bad
situation are numerous.
Regards,
Tom

Subject: [foxboro] Colour Blind Operators
Does anybody on the list have experience of dealing with operators who have
difficulty discriminating between colours. On our current project we have a
number of Operators who have difficulty distinguishing between some colours.
Ideally I would like to set up a different palette for each operator which
he could then load a the start of each shift.
I would be interested to here how others had solved this problem.
