I would second the idea of not connecting a color printer to the COMM10. If
there is any way you can connect it directly to an AW51/AW70, you should do
it. The serial-to-parallel converters are notoriously flaky. I went so far
as to purchase a parallel port extender kit (Foxboro part # P0971GL or
P0971LS, but also widely available on-line at CDW and the like) so that I
could have the printer sit in the control room while the AW51 sits across
the hall in an equipment room. Once you do that, almost any PostScript
capable printer will work.

We have an HP Color LaserJet 4600. It prints out beautiful screen captures,
although since we use a dark background on most of our displays, we are
spending a fortune on toner. If anybody ever comes across an extremely
simple way to print out reverse video on a PostScript color printer, please
let me know. I've tried myriad suggestions from this list, but they all
require far too much intervention on the user's part, or just don't work at
all. The PrintScreen menu pick is very simple and always works, and unless
I can find something that is that easy, our console guys won't use it. I
want to capture the background colors of the data points and other colors on
the screen, but just mask out the background color. Aside from creating a
whole other set of parallel displays with a gray or white background,
nothing seems to work.

I'm not positive which color printer is currently "approved" by
Foxboro.
Foxboro now does not recommend that color printers be connected
through a
Comm 10 in any case. We currently use an HP1600 which is connected
directly to on AW51E and have not had any problems. The printer is
        available to other stations.

        Hi,

I need to buy and install 2 color printers on our 51 series,
ver 6.2.1
systems. They will be connected to a Comm 10 Processor.

              I would like to ask;
              1. What is the currently supported printer from Foxboro?
              2. What other currently available printers might someone
suggest?

             Thanks
