Re: [foxboro] Change CP40 to FCP270

We just installed a ZCP270 where a CP30 was. It uses FCM100Es
connecting to 30 odd FBM 100 series (long and short; some
nosecones so old, they are made of the white plastic).

Loop checks start Monday.

No running experience yet, but it has started up OK. We have
the FCM100Es mounted in the side of the IE32 with the power
taps on the IE32 power bus.

We junked the Foxboro mounting plate intended to mount the
baseplate with two FCMs in the IE32, because with the doors we
have, the idiot lights on the front of the FCM could not be
seen. Instead we managed to mount the baseplate on a little
strip of DIN rail in the same area. Now lights (and
connections) are directly visable when the side door is
opened. We also have the fiber splitter/combiners in there
and their mounting, while secure, looks a little amateurish.

The connector on the end of the twin-ax cable has also proven
to be a bit of a problem; couldn't find a reference to the
manufacturer and part number and we didn't buy them from
Foxboro with the rest of the equipment. Finding the right one
has been a problem.

The only other "discomfort" is that while the CP30s configure
from an AW51B, this new ZCP270 configures only from an AW70.
The client would much prefer MESH Solaris boxs but the
stations were ordered 2 weeks before the Solaris on MESH was
announced. (Perhaps this is the stimulus for making the
FeedForward, RCC configurator run on Windows with a Solaris GUI)

This ZCP270 will be running this alongside 6 or 7 CP30s for
the foreseeable future, and the wiring is pretty much the
same. It will be interesting to see the long term performance.
