I'm sure others will have beaten me to this, but several directories in
/usr/fox/ia16 are "loopback mounted" to corresponding directories under /.
If you look in your /etc/fstab, or type "mount", you'll see it. I've
excerpted some output from mount on one of our AWs:
/usr on /dev/md/dsk/d4 read/write/setuid on Mon Nov 8 15:44:40 2004
...
/usr/fox/ia16/usr/fox/sp on /opt/fox/sp read/write on Mon Nov 8 15:44:42
2004
/usr/fox/ia16/usr/fox/dd on /opt/fox/ia16/usr/fox/dd read/write on Mon Nov
8 15:44:42 2004
/usr/fox/ia16/usr/fox/ciocfg on /opt/fox/ciocfg read/write on Mon Nov 8
15:44:42 2004
/usr/fox/ia16/dev on /dev read/write on Mon Nov 8 15:44:42 2004
/usr/fox/ia16/devices on /devices read/write on Mon Nov 8 15:44:42 2004
...
Essentially, the mounted "device", instead of being some hardware device
like /dev/md/dsk/d4 (as in the first line), is actually a directory on an
already mounted file system.

Subject: [foxboro] Can anyone explain how /etc/fox/user_apps.log
and
/usr/fox/ia16/etc/user_apps.log are "conected"?
OK, Im stumped. This morning while trying to figure out why the root
filesystem on an AW was at 100%, I tracked it down to
/etc/fox/user_apps.log. Later in discussing with a co-wokere he said that
file lived in /usr/fox/ia16/etc. Turns out we were both correct. And
somehow the 2 files are conected. I can't find a symboilc link for this,
and it can't be a hard link, as / and /usr are different disk partions.
Even stranger, they do have th smae inode number.
What am I overloking here?
