Re: [foxboro] CAR No. 1005883

Dear Marcel,
I'm stunned by two things.

First of all by the speed of Foxboro's reply to my CAR. Lightning Fast. Less
then one week!!
And secondly by the total disregard of existing customers.

Has Foxboro ever assessed the current usage of 'esql' by current customers?
We have many thousands of hours worth of development in software utilising
'esql'.

The most disapointing issue is that Foxboro not even offers a viable
alternative.
You cannot expect us to retain the ailing AP51B host we are about to replace
with the AW51F.
The aim of this upgrade is to UPGRADE and NOT to hang on to OLD equipment.

It might be just the right time to look for alternatives for our control
systems.

As you can see in 'CC' list, I'm going public on this. Well at least within
the Foxboro Users Mailing list.

Frits,

The Day 0 CD for Version 7.x contains the On-Line Informix and it will
run current reports or historians that can be loaded on an a AW51F or AW51G.

Development of queries, forms or reports can be created on an existing AW51
and moved to the AW51F and AW51G.

There are no plans to license the Informix Devolpment Package for V7.x.

If you have any further questions please contact me at 508-549-7008 or
e-mail me mgirard @foxboro.com

Regards,

Marcel A. Girard
