Hello there, Ed!
You understood correctly.
From your AW51 you open a 'telnet' session to the remote AW51.
Enter 'ia' as the user name, and 'remote' as the password.
It pops up your default DM (legacey DM or FoxView) assuming
you have an available license. (you might want to change the
password from that default)
You have to use 'telnet', rather than cmdtool or xterm, as
with 'telnet' the IP information is available to be picked
up by the login profile. It isn't available with the other
terminal type tools.
Note that as user 'ia' isn't 'root' there may be one or two
administrative activities you might not be able to do;
generally we are talking about stuff done in the VT100 shell
called from the SoftMnt menu. As it is a remote DM session,
it is subject to the usual protections of 'omsets'
being disabled and ACL 100 being shut off.
Also, we have once or twice seen that the IP address doesn't
get picked up right on login.
The login script is a hidden file in the home directory for
the 'ia' user. You can see it at /opt/ia/.profile.

Steve,
Sorry if I misunderstand you but are you saying you can use an AW51 to do
the same thing as you do with Exceed on a pc? Can you pull up displays from
another node from an AW? You wrote "log in as user "ia" where do you do
this? from a vt session? This sounds very interesting. Please let me know
if this is what you ment or if I misunderstand.
Thanks!
