Our dual headed B boxes are dedicated operator workstations(HMI). Some of the reasons to upgrade the B boxes are: 1. We are in the process of creating new FoxView (FV)displays, they run a lot better on D boxes and I assume XP. 2. I want to keep our system current while the funds are available. 3. XP can help, because we also have some plants on RSView that need to be remotely monitored occasionally. I should be able to bring the RSView client into the second ethernet port of the new workstations, just like we do Foxboro Exceed remotes (I hope). XP workstations open up a new issue, because they will only run FoxView/Foxdraw. That means I have to convert all of my DM graphics to FV to fully utilize the XP workstations immediately. All screens must be available and working because we have two separate control rooms, one in each plant. (We have one nodebus on fiber optic nodebus extenders). Last time I tried converting DM to FV, about a year ago, I created a few core dumps, and some graphics that quite didn't work right, or the fonts were just off a bit. I've been told there shouldn't be any issues with the latest version of conversion tools. We'll see. I think this has been a pretty good discussion so far. Thanks for all of the input.
