system from a command line utility?

2) MS Excel using an
Regarding apitest, I've never tried it for alarms, but you should be
able to do it with something like:
#!/bin/sh
/opt/aim/ bin/apitst <<INPUT
#commands to apitst
INPUT

the MS Excel help (search on 'enable macros to run') to learn how to run
macros when an xls file is double clicked.
