Re: [foxboro] AW51E Mirror Backup on V6.5.1

Travis,

We use the mirror_backup script all of the time and regularly perform
restores to backup systems to prove the performance of the backup plan. We
are currently at v6.5.1. The only difference is that we are using DDS-3
4mm tapes and drives.

Thanks Graham. Do you know where I may be able to find a correct =

Travis
The mirroDB backup is a dd backup of the raw mdb partition. This =
probably
not! What you need.
You should do a full back-up of the drive to get everything

Subject: [foxboro] AW51E Mirror Backup on V6.5.1

Hi again List. I'm attemting a tape backup using an AIT2 tape and AIT2 =
tape
drive. The station is an AW51E on V6.5.1 with external mirrored hard =
drives.
First I checked the status of the mirrored drives and everything is OK.
Next, ran the "mirror_backup" and it appears to run with no problems. =
When
the backup is complete it tells me the operation was successful and to =
store
the tape away. The drives then re-mirror okay. But before I remove the =
tape
I enter a "ufsrestore tvfs /dev/rst9 1" to read the tape back and verify
that it's ok. I get the following message:

verify volume & initialize maps
media block size is 126
volume is not in dump format

This AW is on our simulator and is the only AW we have on V6.5.1. It's =
the
only station I'm having difficulties backing up. Has anyone experienced =
a
problem like this or maybe have any thoughts on something different I =
can
try?

Thanks,
Travis
