Re: [foxboro] AW51B boot problem

Hi, Steve,
I had tried ctrl-c when it was first stuck in this endless loop and it
seemed to do nothing. I just tried it again and it seemed to have some
effect but it still did not boot up. After pressing ctrl-c, I saw no
effect immediately so I pressed it again, and again. Eventually, I saw a=

message that automatic cable selection had succeeded and the TP cable had=

been selected. After this the error message changed to ARP/RARP Send
failed. I tried ctrl-c several more times but it does not seem to have a=
ny
effect now.

Hi Cyrus,

Try ctrl-c during boot and see if it continues booting up normally. =

There
is an ancient HH on this but I don't know what number it is. In our case=

we
get a message about retrying something or another over and over again unt=
il
we control-c.

When we crash an aw or wp sometimes it does not find a file containing
its
host id on reboot, and control-c causes it to "skip" over that part of th=
e
startup script and look directly to the letterbug for the id. The file
gets
recreated and future re-boots should work fine.

We also have a Sun xterminal that lost its battery and we have to stop-=
a
it and type the net boot host number into it manually.

  Old computers . . . good times!
