Re: [foxboro] AW will not boot ZCP or ATS. Any ideas?

Russ,
My bad! You nailed it-- the ports were firewalled. Not really sure how
or for how long. Perhaps, it was turned back on during the installation
of a Windows security update? Anyway, I'm back in business and I thank
you.

Many thanks to all who took the time to read and/or respond. As always,
the list works!

Thanks,
Dave

Subject: [foxboro] AW will not boot ZCP or ATS. Any ideas?

All Knowing List,
Here's a synopsis of a problem I'm having.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

SYSTEM:=3D3D20
* Mesh Version 8.2

SYSTEM COMPONENTS:=3D3D20
* 36CP01 (ZCP270) (connected to edge sw)
* 01AT23 (ATS in LI mode) (connected to edge sw)
* 30AW02 (Dell PW-340 P-92 Host for ZCP and ATS) =3D3DA0(connected to =
root
=3D
=3D3D
sw)
* Enterasys N-3 Switches DFE Gold blades (one set for root and one set
=3D3D
for edge)

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
The system has worked fine for many months. Recently, some maintenance
=3D3D
work was done to the AW host. After this maintenance, the host has been
=3D3D
able to perform all manner of ICC functions for its hosted ZCPs, such as
=3D3D
checkpoint, upload, saveall, etc. However, it appears to have lost its
=3D3D
ability to perform a reboot for hosted stations.=3D3D20

Subsequently, the CP letterbug was changed to NOSUCH, and NVRAM was =
=3D3D
cleared. Next, the CP letterbug was set back to 36CP01. The CP appears
=3D3D
to send out broadcasts, but no response is received back from the host.

Further testing showed that if one asks the ATS to reboot both primary
=3D3D
and shadow at the same time, the sysmon_log shows:
2007-12-17 10:17:29 01AT23 Process =3D3D3D Config check RDHSS=3D3DA0 =
000131
=3D3D=3D

-=3D3DA0=3D3DA0=3D3DA0=3D3DA0=3D3DA0 Requesting Stabin
2007-12-17 10:17:44 01AT23 Process =3D3D3D Config Check RDHSS=3D3DA0 =
000131
=3D3D=3D

-=3D3DA0=3D3DA0=3D3DA0=3D3DA0=3D3DA0 Config check data not received

The AW does not appear to be responding to requests for STA36CP01.BIN or
=3D3D
STA01AT23.BIN.

Moreover, if you set the ATS letterbug to NOSUCH, and NVRAM is cleared,
=3D3D
then set it back to the previous letterbug of 01AT23... The ATS appears
=3D3D
to send out broadcasts, but no response is received back from the host.

WHAT'S BEEN DONE SO FAR:
* Verified that ENABLE DOWNLOAD and ENABLE ALL REPORTS are selected for
=3D3D
the CP.
* Verified that the host will not boot another module besides the ZCP
=3D3D
(an ATS).
* Verified the host continues to perform ICC functions for other hosted
=3D3D
ZCPs.
* Verified that sldb file shows the AW as the ZCP host.
* Used ds_stasict to verify that the ZCP was in the hosts table.
* Verified that /usr/fox/sp/locks/f36CP01 exists. Never saw =3D3D
/usr/fox/sp/locks/f36CP01- created.
* Used Wireshark to verify that an Ethernet packet was being broadcast
=3D3D
with destination FF:FF:FF:FF from the source MAC address of 36CP01. This
=3D3D
packet was showing up on the wire to the AW host.
* Verified lsap_dsp and romload_svr processes are running on host. =3D3D
Should mles be running? Did not kill and restart, but did reboot AW host
=3D3D
with no change.=3D3D20
* Verified the STA36CP01.BIN and STA01AT23.BIN files exist and had =3D3D
correct configuration information using stabin_tool.exe.

REQUEST:
* Any ideas anyone has to further troubleshoot this problem is =3D3D
appreciated.
* I used the Troubleshooting Guide off the CSC website for CPs. Anyone
=3D3D
got a guide for ZCPs?
