The Foxboro software install checks to see that the drive identification
and possibly a few other things matches what they have in their list of
compatible drives. With the IDE drives that are used in the 51D, we have
not found any nice way to avoid using very specific hard drives. In the
past the compatible hard drives were a list of very specific Seagate 4.3
and 8.6GB hard drives. I am not sure what new drives may have been added
to the list. If you partition the drive correctly, you could potentially
edit a file that Foxboro uses to look for compatible drives during the I/A
Install, but I don't recommend it - all Day 0 software installs would then
require a fix before it could load.
The SCSI drives on some of the other boxes are easier to handle. You can
format them in a manner that also changes the drive name (i.e. Sun 4.1 GB
or something) to something that is recognized by the Foxboro I/A install
software. The exact drive that is used does not matter so much, as long as
it is big enough and formatted to required size.

Hi all,
Does anyone of you already experienced with a DAY0 installation on AW sty=
le
D with an internal 20GB ide hard drive?(i'm using pre-install diskette K0=
175SN-F)
I've tried but ft_get_size is unable to determine the disk size..
Can i modify ft_get_size?...and then ..what to do?
Are 4300 and 8600 the only two supported disks?
Can i build a different partition table basing on SCSI 18GB?
