Matrikon makes one, too, though it is also an "alarm management" package
(like PAS and TiPS).
For simple viewing and logging to files, Visual Alert from Erus for the
price (a few hundred US $ last time I checked) is pretty decent.
Personally, I use the sLumberjack (tm) alarm logger -- "we log your alarms
while you sleep" (that would be two legacy historians and some shell
scripts :)

Re: [foxboro] AW: LINE PRINTER REPLACEMENT
In the interest of fair disclosure, I just had lunch with Eddie Habibi,
President and Founder of PAS, and he gently reminded me that there is
another that should be on the list. :-)
So, in exchange for lunch and an interesting conversation, here's a new
compilation. Accusations of corruption will be filed properly (in my
Deleted folder). :-)
Re: Use a package like LogMate from TiPS (there are a million of
them) that can replace the printer and store the data on a PC.
I may have exaggerated slightly, but the list is now up to:
1) AIM*Historian and AIM*Inform
2) Plant State Suite from PAS (used commonly in our Alarm Mgmt Svc)
3) Logmate from TIPS (pretty common in the states)
4) IMAC from ICS(pretty common in EMEA)
5) HAWK from PCS
6) AlarmsOnLine2 from Ingolf Schulte
And you really haven't started looking yet.
There are lots of these "out there."

Hi Pablo,
This problem is solved by AlarmsOnline2. This software receives the

Betreff: [foxboro] LINE PRINTER REPLACEMENT
=3D20
Hi everybody,=3D20
I would like to replace our alarm line-printers with something that I
don=3D
't
have to keep repairing.... like a laser printer.=3D20
I am aware of the difference between line and page printers, so I am
look=3D
ing
for some piece of hardware that buffers the lines until a page completes
=3D
and
then sends it to the laser printer. A valuable additional feature would
b=3D
e
the possibility of retrieving a history file from the device on a
separat=3D
e
port......=3D20
I've been looking in the Internet but have found nothing like
this.....=3D20
Other possibiliy I am studying is to configure the alarm printer in
COM1,
connect COM1 to COM2 with a null-modem cable, write a program that reads
COM2and buffers the lines until it completes a page and then sends the
pa=3D
ge
to a laser printer connected to LPT1.....=3D20
Any ideas?=3D20
