Thank you for that Alex.

But the issue is retrieving data out of the archives without having to
restore them on the AIM* server.
I'm sorry I was not clear about that in my first e-mail.

Cheers,
Frits.

You can retrieve everything from AIM*Historian by using:

1) AIM*Inform
2) ODBC V1.x compliant applications
3) Oracle export
4) AIM*API
5) A variety of other tools including AIM*Explorer and I/A Series Report
Writer

In V3.2 of AIM*Historian, you can use OLE DB in addition to ODBC.

I'm surprised by the fact that nobody had anything to say about my question
regarding retrieving information out of AIM* archives.

Am I right in saying that archiving anything with AIM* is a waste of time
because nothing can be retrieved from it anyway?

Cheers,
Frits.

Hi All,
here we are archiving, on a weekly basis, our AIM* historian with the tools
available. Putting it on CD goes fine too being just around 600Mb. That's
all fine and dandy.
Now we have a need to examine a few weeks worth of data from some time ago
and have absolutely no tools available to make any use of the archive.

Is there a way to view these archives without having to restore it on a
Foxboro system.
We just want the numbers out of these archives. There is no need to view
them in a trend. Number crunching is the game of the day.
It there a way to import those archives in say MS Access or so?

Any help would be much appreciated.
