Frits,

Read Pg 126 of the AIM Historian Guide about On-Demand Archiving. All you
have to do is have the folder/directory you are archiving to in the instance
configuration DBPATH. The historian will find the rXXXX.fdb file that has
the data for your timeframe if it is archived.

If you back up to tape, you just have to restore it to a temp folder
(defined in the DBPATH). Then perform your query with your client
application.

I'm surprised by the fact that nobody had anything to say about my question
regarding retrieving information out of AIM* archives.

Am I right in saying that archiving anything with AIM* is a waste of time
because nothing can be retrieved from it anyway?

Cheers,
Frits.

Hi All,
here we are archiving, on a weekly basis, our AIM* historian with the tools
available. Putting it on CD goes fine too being just around 600Mb. That's
all fine and dandy.
Now we have a need to examine a few weeks worth of data from some time ago
and have absolutely no tools available to make any use of the archive.

Is there a way to view these archives without having to restore it on a
Foxboro system.
We just want the numbers out of these archives. There is no need to view
them in a trend. Number crunching is the game of the day.
It there a way to import those archives in say MS Access or so?

Any help would be much appreciated.
