Suzi,
I don't know how redundancy is at other sites, but here we have just one
address shared between the two processors. There are special cards
installed in the racks that handle redundancy. The shadow processor
address is the same as the primary address + 1. I believe the shadow
processor is nothing but a slave. I'll have to check to see if it will
even respond to anything except diagnostic net queries. As I understand
it, the shadow processor's memory is slaved to the primary processor's
memory and the shadow does not initiate anything on its own. I have not
tried to connect to it because I have not seen any merit to it yet. If
the primary and the shadow switch roles, they also switch network
addresses via the specialized hardware. So, I am still communicating
with the primary card--but it is physically a different processor now.
Your situation may be different. We installed a very early version
here. Our ControlLogix processors are each in four-slot racks. The
processor is in slot 0 and a communications card (ControlNet, in our
case) is in slot 1. The other two slots are taken up by a specialized
card just for redundancy. The specialized cards take care of
redundancy. If your configuration is different (it probably is), then
your results may vary...

Hello.
Has anyone set up communication between AB30FT and Control Logix PLC in
Redundancy configuration ?
AB30FT communicating with only one PLC works fine.. The problem is when
we have 2 Control Logix.
Has anyone tried this?
Any other suggestions? The customer is willing to change hardware if
necessary to keep the original idea that was to have PLC in redundancy
configuration "talking with" our System.
Thank you
Suzi
