Software license for what? I have three of these that we plan to put in
on an upcoming project, and if they work well, I was going to use more of
them in the future.
We currently use an AW70 with OPC IO Gate for several external devices,
including A-B PLC5s and Micrologix 1500s. The nice thing about OPC is
that it doesn't care what the PLCTYP is; anything RSLinx can talk to, you
can bring across. The bad thing, it being a Windoze box and all, is that
it locks up every few weeks, and it's not available in a redundant
configuration. I upgraded it recently to XP (and had to re-pay for some
of those software licenses, even though no software besides the OS was
updated that I can tell) in an attempt to stop the lockups, but we don't
have it running yet. It's not cheap, but it still beats the heck out of
10 Integrator 30s.

We are using the FBM 224 talking Modbus. Maybe not the most elegant =
solution but works well and is a whole lot cheaper than an Integrator =
solution. However, Foxboro has gotten greedy (in my opinion). Used to =
only have to buy the FBM 224. Now all of a sudden you have to buy a SW =
License which more than doubles the total price.
