Brian,
One possibility is to go ahead and use a reduction group (or groups). Write
an ACE report (assuming legacy historian) to extract that reduced value,
schedule the report periodically via cron, and write back in to a value
block or a shared variable.
This is kind of kludgy for a single value, but (unlike block logic) it is
easy to expand to do many rolling averages.
Alternatively, to view larger amounts of reported data, instead of writing
to value block or shared variable you can format a display manager screen to
veiw an ascii file, or use a scroll region on a Foxview graphic.
